Does using your filament void my printer’s warranty?

The Use of Non-OEM Supplies Does Not Void Your 3D Printer Warranty! Federal law guarantees you are free to use the supplies of your choice for your printer without worrying about voiding the warranty. The MAGNUSON-MOSS WARRANTY IMPROVEMENT ACT OF 1975 (15 USC 2301) prohibits a printer manufacturer from conditioning the warranty on the use of a particular brand of supplies. The applicable provision of the Act states: “No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer’s using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than [an]article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade or corporate name.” You are free to use whatever brand of supplies you believe best suits your 3D printing needs without fear of having the OEM’s warranty voided. However, if the non-OEM supplies you choose damages the 3D printer, then the OEM could legally refuse to repair the 3D printer pursuant to the warranty if the OEM can establish the damage was specifically caused by the non-OEM supplies.

How about custom colors?

Yes! Contact us directly and let us know what you are looking for. We have a minimum order of 24 kg and $75 fee for each production run.

How do you ship?

We typically ship using UPS Ground. Orders usually ship the same day and arrive at your doorstep in 2-3 business days for non-custom, in-stock items.

How long will MakeShaper filament stay fresh?

Our filament is guaranteed to print like new for one year from the purchase date while still sealed in original, unopened packaging. Once opened, it is all about the environment and storage protocol on your end. In humidity-controlled settings, the life span can be years. In the open air of a rainforest, you may only be looking at hours. Material storage is critical to consistent, high quality prints.

How should I store my filament?

Our filaments ship in a vacuum sealed bag with a measured amount of desiccant. It's best to leave the material in the original packaging until you are ready to use. At first use and in between uses, place spool in a zip closure bag to an airtight container with the desiccant packet(s) to ensure longevity.

Is it REALLY made in the USA?

Yes! We manufacture filament in Euclid, OH.

What do I do if my prints don’t work?

If you have eliminated the printer and software (or design) as the source of your problems and believe it to be our materials please contact us for technical support.

What temperature should I print at?

Each of our materials is labeled with a temperature range, but the exact right temperature is dependent on the environment and on the printer. Your best option is to start with our recommendations and fine-tune for optimal results.
